Medical University of South Carolina Children's Health, Child Life Program

Our students work closely with the Certified Child Life Specialistis at The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Children’s Health (children's hospital), as classroom professors, practicum supervisors, and professional mentors. MUSC Children’s Health incorporates child life services across a variety of settings throughout the hospital including in all inpatient units, the pediatric perioperative area, emergency and critical care departments, and in the ambulatory clinics. Equipped with specialized training and experience, the child life team has a variety of educational and professional backgrounds that assist them in helping infants, children, and adolescents and their families medical care experiences and hospitalization. The graduate students in the MSCL program participate in a variety of activities and professional development opportunities within the hospital including a Professional Child Life Conference Day, special atrium take over days, special holiday events, fundraising events, and Child Life Month activities. The MSCL program is fortunate to include Senior Child Life Specialist, S. Morgan Ford, as the Coordinator of Clinical and Academic Training for the MSCL Program.
